It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Douglas Fairbairn Henderson on April 30, 2023 in his 65th year. He was the beloved husband of Christine Page Henderson for almost 40 years. He was the loving father of Craig of Guelph and Emily (Kyle Banton-Jones) of Uxbridge. Dear brother of Bev (Dorothy) Henderson, Shirley (Doug) Mills and Murray (Carol) Henderson. Dear brother-in-law of Deb (Tom) Shurrie and Diane Page (John Maybury). He will be missed greatly by his many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and colleagues.

Doug was born in Seaforth on March 30, 1959, the youngest child of the late Arthur and Doe (Walters) Henderson. He graduated from Seaforth District High School in 1978 and attended Ryerson (now TMU) graduating with a Bachelor of Business Management Degree in 1985. In 1993, he obtained his Certified Professional Purchasing designation. Doug’s career spanned over 40 years with him working at Metalumen in Guelph, Heron Cable/ Easy Heat in Waterloo and Elmira, Vicwest in Stratford, and Norwell Dairy/CG Wellington in Drayton and Waterloo. He worked primarily in purchasing, inventory control and supply chain management, but, for seven years, he was the Operations/Plant Manager for Easy Heat in Waterloo.

Doug’s passion was sports and exercising. Over the years he played hockey, baseball, and basketball. He was also a golfer, swimmer, biker, skier, and runner. His greatest physical achievement was running the Toronto Marathon. He was a coach for Craig’s and Emily’s baseball, basketball and hockey teams and a Beaver Leader. Doug was an avid Leaf, Raptor and Blue Jay fan. He also enjoyed cooking and trying out new adventurous recipes for his friends and family. Doug will be remembered by all for his quick, dry sense of humour, and for his dedication to his family and work. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed.

Visitation will be held at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Saturday, May 13th 2023 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. with the celebration of his life beginning at 1.
