Hersey Brian MM

January 7th, 1945 – March 20th, 2022

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Brian Hersey, peacefully in his 78th year. Beloved husband, Dad and Grandpa, he was full of life, humour and laughter and will be greatly missed by those he cares about.

He leaves behind his wife Ann (Muller) of 39 years, his daughter and son-in-law Amy and JP Manlapas, and his two young grandkids, Genesis and Phoenix. He is predeceased by his parents Bertha (1986) and Jack Hersey (1999) and survived by his older brother Doug (Diane) Hersey and younger sister Brenda Bailey.

Brian was a lifelong Guelphite, always hardworking in his various career paths which included Master Feeds, The Guelph Mercury, and 20 years at the Caledon location of the Region of Peel. Even after his official retirement in 2010 he enjoyed working for temp agencies with Doug. Brian was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and liked to help any way he could, such as volunteering to run the elevator and assist with general maintenance. He loved going to car shows and was especially fond of classic cars. He effortlessly remembered the year, make and model of every car he owned. Since joining the Belwood Lake Sailing Club in the mid-80s, he enjoyed spending summer days and evenings watching the boats on the water.

Visitation will take place at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Thursday, March 31st from 3-4:30 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service and Celebration of Life will be held at First Baptist Church, 255 Woolwich St., Guelph on Saturday April 2nd at 11am. Reception to follow. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park at 2pm on Monday April 4th.

In lieu of flowers, donations to First Baptist Church Guelph, the Red Cross, and the Canadian Cancer Society are greatly appreciated.
