It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Andrew Hill at the age of 28 years, at his home at Hopewell Children’s Home in Ariss, Ontario in the morning of Nov 7, 2017.  Michael was born in Guelph on April 9th, 1989 to Sheila (Rainey) Barr and Robert Hill and his big sister Jenn.  When he turned 11 years old, Hopewell Children’s Home became a place to call home where he continued to be surrounded by love and new friends. Michael was a special little man, one that opened hearts wherever he went.  He did not let his disability impact his capacity to make people smile, laugh and cry. After an on-off 5 year battle of respiratory related challenges, Michael’s heart, exhausted from trying, finally gave way to peace.  He leaves behind his parents; Robert Hill and Sheila (Rainey) Barr, his step parents; Janice (MacDonald) Hill and Brent Barr, his sisters; Jenn and Alysia Hill, his brother Ryan Hill and his step brother Erik Barr as well as his many uncles, aunts and cousins.  He is also leaving behind his extended family at Hopewell; a group of caring, loving and dedicated individuals.  He loved his groovy girl dolls, music especially when being sung to, baseball (he loved to pretend to throw a baseball every time a game was on) and car racing.  His laugh was infectious; his smile would light up a room and his flexibility would astonish many. Special thanks to all those at Hopewell Children’s Home and Dr. Rosemary Danielli who cared for Michael throughout the past 17 years.  Should friends or family desire, contributions may be sent to Hopewell Children’s Home in Ariss Ontario. A Celebration of Life will be hosted by the family on Sunday Nov 12th beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Lakeside Church on Conservation Road in the north end of Guelph.  Feel free to contact the GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph, (519-824-0031) if you require any further information.
