It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dear and special father, father-in-law and grandfather. Robert (Barney), in his 82nd year, left us to be once again with his wife, the late Judy (Green) Hillson (2006). Only child of the late Eugene and Ethel Hillson. After numerous health issues, the last few months were particularly difficult, as his health declined. Bob had a wonderful life, enjoying many social times, including recently, Saturday’s playing cards with the boys at the Armories and in the old days curling bonspiels with his firefighter friends, bowling and his true passion for sports was a life long interest. He loved hockey, football and baseball. Bob worked at Hammonds Manufacturing for many years, until he accepted a job as a Fire Prevention Officer at the University of Guelph. When he retired, he enjoyed his family. Bob will be sadly missed by his daughter Carol McGuigan and husband Mike, Steven and his wife Lesley. He was a proud grandfather of Matthew, Connor, Carter, Jeremy, Joel and Lauren.
The family welcomes friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Friday, April 29, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Lung Association, or St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
