May 25, 1991 - July 26, 2023

It is with tremendous sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Kessie Jean Hunt. Kessie was born May 25, 1991 in Cambridge, Ontario.

Kessie was an unforgettable soul with a vibrant, bubbly, and compassionate spirit, whose journey ended far too soon. Kessie brought immense joy to her family and friends throughout her years with us and was a radiant light to all who knew her.

After a long struggle with mental health, Kessie lost the battle and took her own life, passing away on July 26, 2023. Cherished first born child of Shawn and Kelly Hunt. Loving sister of Zachary(Krystle) and Wylder. Fiancée of Mathieu Dauphinee. Granddaughter of Karen Patrick and Robert Stubbs, Jean Reeve. Niece of Brian Patrick(Robyn) and Michael Hunt. Loved by many cousins and great aunts and uncles. Predeceased by her grandfather James Reeve. Kessie's journey was marked by her adventurous spirit, unwavering kindness, and empathetic nature, brightening the lives of all who knew her. She was a creative, talented, and artistic soul with an unyielding passion for helping and supporting others. She was known for traveling to different communities to perform “random acts of kindness” with her friends. She loved travel, fires, guitar, and her dog Milo. Kessie will be remembered for her vivacious, fiercely loyal, and infectious personality. She loved and was loved deeply, as evidenced by the large community of people deeply mourning this tragic loss.

Kessie made deep lifelong friendships in childhood, and picked up many other friends along the way. After graduating from Preston High School, Kessie went on to graduate with honors from Conestoga College, and then received her post graduate education from Georgian College. She was a recipient of a Woman of Distinction Award in 2015 for her commitment to volunteer work, activism, and passion for empowering women. One of her most notable achievements was completing the 200km Bike Ride to Conquer Cancer in 2009.

Kessie faced many challenges in life. She suffered from a vestibular condition, which led to depression and mental health issues. Despite that, she has left a legacy of taking care of everyone around her, and has helped countless people through their own mental health struggles. Kessie fought so hard, and so bravely, for so long and we admire her courage and strength during those times. Knowing someone who was so strong suffered a pain so immense where she thought it was better to leave us is unfathomable and heartbreaking to accept. We are grateful for how long and hard she must have fought, although we cannot accept that life will continue without her in it.

When you remember Kessie, you remember her laugh, her light, and her warmth. Kessie was a beautiful sunrise. Her life was filled with brilliant colours and warmth. Even though the sun has set too soon, the beauty and warmth of her light continues to flow in our hearts forever.  In honour of Kessie, let us come together with a renewed sense of compassion and appreciation for one another, ensuring that her memory and legacy is marked by her kindness, vibrancy and a newfound connection to each other.
