December 27, 1950 – February 11, 2024

After a courageous battle with cancer, Leslie passed away at home in Guelph with her loving husband Gerry.

Born and raised in Leamington, Ontario, cherished daughter of the late Howard and Beatrice (Raper) Haley and sister to late brother, Ron Haley. Loving and proud mother of Shannon Thomson (Matthew) of Mississauga and Julie Vanco (Joel) of Cambridge. Adored Grandma of Emily, Leah, Natalie, Claire and Jonah. She is also survived by her loving sister Louise Johnston (John), sister-in-law Vickie Haley, sister-in-law Diane Woelfle (Kevin), brother-in-law Don Hyde (Fatima) and many nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply.

Leslie was a caring soul who spent her life helping others. She had a kind calmness about her that filled the room. Leslie’s selfless nature was reflected in her career choice as she worked as a nurse in Guelph for over 20 years. She started at the Guelph General, moved to VON and finished her career at a doctor’s office. She cherished relationships with family and friends over everything and absolutely loved being a grandmother. Leslie is famous for her baked goods and knitted treasures including baby sweaters and socks. She loved the outdoors: walking on a beach, kayaking, biking and a good campfire. She enjoyed gardening and would eagerly wait for the first signs of her daffodils and tulips.

A visitation for Leslie will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM, at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home - Hart Chapel (1099 Gordon St., Guelph)  A Memorial Service will take place in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM.  For those unable to attend the service in person please join via livestream at service time.  Cremation has taken place.

We would like to thank all of our neighbours, friends and family for all of the food, well wishes and visits over the past few months. We would also like to thank Leslie’s family doctor, Manu Kaushik for his exceptional care and compassion.

Leslie spent many hours volunteering at the Guelph Food Bank and in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the food bank or a charity of your choice.
