IRWIN, Mary Jean

Irwin Mary MM

1957 - 2021

Sadly, Mary lost her battle with complications due to the COVID virus. She will not be a statistic. We will remember Mary for who she was.

Mary Jean had a passion for life and her family. Being the youngest child and the only girl, Mary grew to cherish her family gatherings. Christmas was Mary’s favourite time of year, she would lavish her family with gifts to express her love with everything she had.

Predeceased by her father, Rev. Roy James Irwin (1968) and her mother, Marion Augusta Irwin, nee Douglas (2008) and survived by her older brothers, Doug, Jim (and Candy), and Bob Irwin plus nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews and special friend, Ben.

Mary attended Sir James Whitney School for the Deaf in Belleville, ON and Ernest C. Drury School for the Deaf in Milton, ON where she grew up in care of her mother. Mary was well known in these communities for her endless stories of her family and listing everyone by name and birthdates, for which she had an incredible recall memory. Mary loved hugs and would be the first in line to get one with a huge smile on her face.

These are some of the ways that Mary will stay in our hearts and we will share even more with a family gathering over the Zoom network. Mary’s final arrangements will be organized by Wall-Custance Funeral Home in Guelph, ON and her internment will be held in Magnetawan, ON.

Mary would want everyone to stay safe. Blessings from the Irwin Family.

A tree will be planted in memory of Mary J. Irwin in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
