(Wilfreda) Valerie Ann Jackson passed away unexpectedly at Guelph General Hospital on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the age of 81 years.
Fiercely independent, she had many projects on the go; it would seem that she was more surprised than any of us by her sudden passing.
Valerie will be remembered so fondly by all of those that were fortunate enough to know her.
She was never one to draw attention to herself, however, she couldn’t hide the thoughtfulness, generosity and kindness that always shone through.
As an artist and nature lover, Valerie merged those two worlds together in such a wonderful way. This love extended beyond her own creativity and through further contributions to organizations such as the Pastel Artists of Canada and the Dundas Valley School of Art, as well as the regular donation of her time through decades of volunteering at the University of Guelph Arboretum and Green Legacy Tree Nursery.
A voracious reader, with eclectic interests, she was deeply curious about a broad range of topics, and a true student of the natural world.
Valerie was truly one-of-a-kind; a friend that will be deeply missed by all, including very much so, by her cat, Harry.
A committal service will be held at the Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park (just in case the weather is not favourable for an outside graveside service) on Wednesday, October 19 at 10:00 a.m.
