Jewell Robert MM

Passed away suddenly at home with his wife by his side on Thursday evening, April 14, 2022 in his 75th year.

Robert was born in Brampton Ontario, lived in, and worked for the City of Toronto, and retired to Guelph Ontario with his wife Mary. He was an active Mason, a carillonneur of note, and a proud Scot. He entertained everyone he met with his stories, his song, his classic wit, and especially his prodigious lexicon of colloquialisms.

Robert is survived by his wife Mary Jewell (nee Marshall), stepsons Sean and Peter Coleman, stepdaughters Angela Jackson and Melissa Mazar. He is mourned by his family: brother David and Linda Ann Jewell, sister Barbara and Jim Prescott, sister Shirley and the late Jim Hutchinson, brother Donald Jewell, nieces and nephews Leslie and Blair Jewell, Jamie, Dan, and Wade Prescott, and Donna, Heather, and Sarah Hutchinson. He will be especially missed by his grandchildren Zoé and Avery Jacole, and Maximillian, Leopold, and Ptolemy Coleman. Robert reunites with his beloved parents Eldon and Edith Jewell in God's embrace.

Very Worshipful Brother Robert Jewell was Past Master and Secretary of Royal City Daylight Lodge No. 742, Wellington District, Guelph. Organist of Beaches Lodge No. 473, Toronto East District, Past Assistant Grand Organist of the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario, and a very well-known visitor at Masonic events.

Visitation will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St, Guelph on Thursday, April 28th from 7-9 pm preceded by a Masonic Memorial Service at 6:30 pm. A service will be held the following day at The Church of the Apostles (St. James & St. Matthias), 86 Glasgow St N, Guelph on April 29th at 1 pm followed by a reception at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel Reception Centre. Internment will happen at Fenelon Falls Cemetery at a future date. Guests attending the visitation or service are kindly asked to wear a mask.
