It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of our loved one, Louise Marie Kelly (nee Macerollo). She passed away on October 4, 2022, surrounded by her sons and family at age 64.

Although cancer took her life, it did not take her spirit. Louise showed a level of strength, determination, belief and a will to live that was so profound. She met her illness head on and did so with such grit and grace. Her bright light and big heart left us too soon but we will always remember her zest for life, generosity, vibrancy and fun and loving ways.

Louise was predeceased by her husband Paul (2018) of 36 years and will be lovingly remembered by her sons Peter and Barry who they were so proud of. They were the light of her life and she cared for them so devotedly until the very end.

Louise was also predeceased by her parents Harpo and Dora Macerollo, her siblings, Joseph, Lynda (Allan Weeks), and John and by her in-laws Frank and Marguerite Kelly and brother-in-law Barry Kelly. She is survived by her brother-in-law James Kelly, brother and sister-in-law John and Sharyne Pickthorn and sister-in-law Moneta Spencer.

“Weezie” will be forever missed by her siblings Patricia (Peter Darrach), Daniel (Kelly Galick), Michael (Beverly Self), Judy (Shayne Campbell), Ann (Jon Lankin), Maria (Sean Coleman), Joey (Janet Wosik) and by her 16 nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces and great nephews with whom she shared a very close bond. To her many friends, we know your loss is as great as ours.

Louise taught us all some fundamental lessons while she made her journey through life. Of which the most memorable, was to develop a sense of giving. Louise was such a giving spirit. Whatever she had, it was always shared. Her door was always open for anyone and she was an example to us all, that it is better to give than to receive.

As the middle child in a family of 11 children, Louise gave of herself in many ways. From helping to care for her Nonna and Nonno, to being like a second mom to her younger siblings, their friends and her nieces and nephews, she was always quick to help with homework, meals and chores and would so often spend her own money so that they could be provided all the little extras. She set the bar high for all of us to continue giving the way she so lovingly gave.

Louise was proud of her home and for over 37 years, cared for so many as a home daycare provider. Most recently, she worked as a custodian for the UGDSB and was always willing to help her fellow colleagues. Weezie had many talents and interests. She was organized, loved to cook soups and bake banana bread for others, had a green thumb for indoor plants, loved music and dance, enjoyed going to concerts, thrifting, shopping and was a supporter of the arts.

Louise thrived on connecting with others. She was fun, generous, caring and helpful with all of her neighbours, family and friends…and she had many. The compassion, support and kindness showed by her neighbours and closest friends during, and at the end of her illness, was remarkable. We cannot express enough how deeply grateful we are for the love and support you showed Louise, Peter, Barry and our entire family through a most difficult time. Thank you to Dr. Albrecht, Dr. Spadafora, her palliative care nurses, Susan, Nadia, Metayha and Jessie, and to the GGH for their compassionate care. They say it takes a village to raise a loved one; it is also true in caring for them at end of life.

We will deeply miss our Weezie as will those she impacted throughout her life. It won’t be the same without our “Queen on Green” but if you are willing to keep your door open to others, you will always have her in your heart.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 234 (57 Watson Pkwy. S., Guelph, ON N1L 0H8) on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 1:00pm. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations to her sons Peter and Barry would be greatly appreciated to help complete the home renovations Louise was determined to complete before her passing. She would also be proud to have donations made in her memory to Toronto Dance Theatre.

A tree will be planted in memory of Louise M. Kelly in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
