We sadly announce the passing of a loving wife, caring mother and proud grandmother and great‑grandmother, Shirley Anne Kilpatrick, on March 17, 2024 at Guelph, Ontario.

Shirley was in her 91st year, born in Atwood, Ontario, on January 27, 1934. She was the beloved wife of over 71 years to Douglas Kilpatrick. She loved her children Kenneth (Vicki), Roland (Catharina) and Lynn (Bill Schlacht). Loving grandmother to Ian, Kimberly, Alex (Andrea), Matthew, Nicholas, Thomas and Linnea and great‑grandmother to Isabelle and Lowen. Dear sister to Mary Eadie and sister‑in‑law to Vivien Laidlaw and Myrtle Laidlaw. Survived by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents, Charles and Thelma Laidlaw, brothers William (Phyllis), Kenneth and Stuart, sisters Doris Machmiller (Hans), Margaret Legrow (Reg) and Jean Parsons (Gordon) and brother-in-law Lorne Eadie.

Shirley and Doug spent happy retirement winters in Florida amongst many good friends. Summers were enjoyed at their home at Amberley Beach on Lake Huron. Recent years were pleasantly spent at the Arboretum residence in Guelph.

A highly skilled cook, seamstress and hostess to many wonderful gatherings, family and business related, Shirley’s talents and compassion were much appreciated and are well remembered by those lucky enough to have spent time with her.

Cremation has taken place. At Shirley’s request, a private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).

Memorial donations to Hospice Wellington or the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Shirley A. Kilpatrick in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
