Grace (née Reintjes), aged 101, passed away peacefully with family by her side at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Guelph, Ontario on April 4, 2023, the 28th anniversary of the death of her beloved husband, Geert Koopmans. She was born January 29, 1922, in The Hague, Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1953 after a brief stint in Indonesia after WWII.
Grace led a full and adventurous life and maintained that spirited independence by living on her own in a condo without, as she called them, the three c’s: computer, cell phone and cleaning lady! By far Grace’s greatest joy and pride came from her large family. Dear mother to her children, Anne (Dick) Tolhurst, Jan (Louise) Koopmans, Robbert (Sheila) Koopmans, and Berend (Michelange) Koopmans. Loving Oma to 16 grandchildren and Great-Oma to 14 (soon to be 15) great-grandchildren. Survived by her sister Ellie (the late Ab) Vanderhulst and brothers George (the late Sue) Reintjes and Tony (Bonnie) Reintjes. Predeceased by her sister Corrie (the late Dave) Freed and her brother Jan (Joy) Reintjes.
