Labrie Leo MM

(1931 – 2022)

Leo, 90, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday April 30, 2022, at the Village of Riverside Glen, Mapleton Neighbourhood, with his wife and daughter at his side.

Leo, affectionally known as Toto to his friends and family, had a great smile, and outgoing friendly nature that he shared with everyone he met. Originally from Granby, Quebec, Leo made the journey to Guelph in 1970 with 29 other families to work at the local Imperial Tobacco Plant. This group became a close-knit community supporting each other through the transition. Guelph very quickly became home and although English was not his first language, Leo never let it slow him down! Leo is fondly remembered for his love of gardening, apples, and golf!

Lovingly remembered by his wife, Pierrette, and daughter Lynn (Julie), siblings Andre (Madelaine Gobeil, Edith Hasselbach), Collette and Daniel. Sisters-in-law Francine, Ginette (Jean-Guy), Nicole (Gyslain). Many nieces and nephews in Granby and friends in both Ontario and Quebec.  Predeceased by his parents Jean-Baptiste and Blanche, siblings Jeanette (Gabriel), Paulette, brothers-in-law Claude (Yolande), Denis, Michel (Carmen), Daniel (Francine), Yves (Andre), Jacques (Francine), and Roch (Isabelle).

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the team members in the Mapleton Neighbourhood for their excellent care, compassion, and support while Leo was in their care – thank you.

Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Saturday May 28, 2022 from 2–4 pm, followed by a brief service to be held in the funeral home chapel (to attend service remotely via Zoom – please use the link on the funeral home website).   We kindly request that masks be worn during the service and visitation.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
