Passed away peacefully at home at The Ellington in his 81st year, on Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
Beloved husband of the late Clarine Lace (2017). Loving father of Jennifer Smith (Wayne) and Gordon Lace (Janet) and step-father to Sandra (Greg), Karen (Tim) and Donna. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Chad and Madison Smith, and Kody Lace, his step-grandchildren Justin (Sondra), Emily (Scott), Faith, Caitlin, Nick and his step-great granddaughter Julia. Fondly remembered by Clarine’s brothers Howard (the late Maureen) and Glenn (Barbara), his many nieces and nephews, and by family members in England. Doug was a member of The Elliott Community for many years and will be remembered by his many friends there. He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Nellie Lace, brothers Alan and Kenneth, nephews Mark and Eric and niece Lori.
Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 12:30-1:30 pm.
Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:30 pm. Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society or the Guelph Humane Society would be appreciated.
