Lago Eugenia MM

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our Mamma, Nonna/Bisnonna who passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 24th, 2022 after a beautiful life at the age of 106.

She will now be reunited with her predeceased husband and love of her life Mario Basilio Lago (2003), her first born infant son Gianfranco, second born infant daughter Clara, and daughter Doris Julie (1998).

Left to mourn are her children Rita Martelli, Lucy Pace (Norm), John Lago (Natalina), as well as her precious grandchildren who she adored and who will miss their little Nonna Lago’s hugs and many kisses: Sabrina Martelli-Figueroa (Ricardo) and their children Gabriella and Matteo, Michelle Martelli, Christopher Pace (Sarah) and their children Aria and Sophia, Stephen Pace, Sheri Silva (Shawn) and their children Rayah, Noah and Avah, Jeanine Cabral (Danny) and their children Grayson and Owen.

Eugenia was born October 10, 1915 in Italy to Eva and Carlo Binotto. She was one of 11 children and is predeceased by siblings Rino, Agnese, Tina, Luigi, Virginio, Giuseppe, Adamo and Francesco. Her sisters Elda and Lidia in Italy will miss her dearly. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews including Ornella, Vania, Melissa and Gina who visited her often.

Rita and John would like to especially thank their dear sister Lucy and her husband Norm for taking such special care of their Mom in their home for many years. They are forever grateful to them for caring for their Mom with such kindness and dignity until her last breath.

In her memory, please give your loved ones extra hugs and kisses - something that she would have loved to have given and received more of in the last 2 years. Mamma ti ameremo per sempre. You will always be in our hearts.

Special thanks to Dr. Rosemary Danielli, the Bayshore palliative care nurses (especially Shannon), and PSW Stefany for taking great care of our Mom. And a special thank you to nurse Marion Willms for looking after our Mom over the past few years.

The family will be having a private service to honour Eugenia’s life and asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

A tree will be planted in memory of Eugenia A. Lago in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
