June 14, 1932- August 12, 2022 -

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ron Langel on August 12, 2022, at age 90.

Ron is the beloved husband to Teresa Langel (nee Apolcer) of 67 years.

Loving father of the late Stephanie McLelland (John), Joseph Langel (Rosemary), Mary Ann Campbell (Michael), Francis Langel (Lorena) and Johanna Valeriote (John David).

Cherished grandfather to Matthew Campbell (Alyssa), Bryan Langel (Cynthia), Matthew McLelland (Danielle), Michelle Longo (Matthew), Tara McLelland (Adam Parks), Jessica Langel, Donna Langel (Garrett Matejcek), Brandon Langel (Jessica Skanes), Alexandra Valeriote, Adele Valeriote and Rebecca Valeriote.

Great grandfather to Dominic Longo, Andrew Longo, Julianne Longo, Clarkson Campbell, Domenic Langel, James Langel, Kaiden Parks, and Owen Parks.

Predeceased by Ron’s parents, Charles and Bessie Langel and step-father Henri Asselin.

Ron apprenticed as a woodworker and became a certified cabinet maker. After attending police college and working as a police officer in Welland, Ontario for 4 years, he graduated from teachers college and began his career teaching woodworking in Guelph, Ontario. His role evolved into High School Guidance Counseling through the remainder of his teaching career.

Ron had a tremendous love and talent for singing and music and could often be heard in the choir at Holy Rosary Church or trumpeting the Last Post on Remembrance Day. He had been an active member of the Guelph Concert Band and also played at many local concerts and Octoberfest events over the years. He would sing various harmonies at every opportunity and was often heard happily whistling a tune as he went about his day. Ron and Teresa loved to travel together and to surround themselves with family and friends in the backyard with a pool-side BBQ.

We would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and PSW's for their patience and care with Ron, including those at Riverside Glen and the Guelph General Hospital. He will be dearly missed by all his friends and extended family.
