Anne Jennifer Langford (née Ellis) passed away at 77 years of age in Guelph, Ontario on August 12, 2019.  Beloved wife of William and sister of David (Mary Lou), Jeffrey (Beverly) and Katherine (Blake).  Cherished Mum of Allison (Todd), Robert, Cathena (Jason) and Anne (Lance).  Adored grandmother (Nanny) of Judah, Ione, Nehemiah and Elianna.  Anne was born in Coulsdon, Surrey, England and immigrated with her family to Canada in 1951, where father, George Ellis, and mother, Nancy, began a new life for their family.  Anne was a graduate of McMaster University and a life-long educator, as an elementary school teacher, vice-principal and consultant. She retired as Principal of Torrance Public School in Guelph.  Anne was deeply committed to helping children, both inside and outside of the classroom, and was a champion of Action Read, a literacy outreach program in Guelph.  She performed onstage in many plays, including at the Burlington and Guelph Little Theatres.  Anne loved swimming, knitting, cooking and gardening, and above all, she loved people.  Anne was always there to help whenever help was needed.  In 2013 she was diagnosed with ALS.  Her valiant struggle with this remorseless disease was an inspiration to all who knew her.  There will be a celebration of Anne’s life at St. George’s Church in Guelph, at 1:30 pm on Saturday, September 7.  Donations to Action Read, in Anne’s memory, would be much appreciated.

Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 519-822-0051.
