Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on August 2, 2016 in her 88th year. Loving wife of Allan for 64 years. Loving mother to Judy Emery(Lorne), David Leeder (Alda) and Edna Keown (Bruce) and grandmother to Mathew Nigh (Margaret). She will be missed by her extended family of nieces, nephews, great nephews and nieces. Predeceased by her parents Ruth (Hodgens) and Raymond Sheppard, sister Lois Martindale and brothers Norman and Howard Sheppard. Betty was born in Burlington, on October 1, 1928. Her early years were spent in Hamilton, then after her marriage to Allan, she lived in Port Elgin and Guelph. For many years, Betty travelled the province selling Tri-Chem liquid embroidery. Doing what she thoroughly enjoyed, she became a top sales leader for several years receiving many awards including cars and travel. She was a loyal and generous friend to many and enjoyed her extended family. Betty’s family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and other health care professionals who not only did their jobs in a competent and professional manner but also became friends.

Betty’s family will receive friends at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. and again on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 1-2 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Betty’s life will take place on Saturday, August 6th, 2016 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to World Accord, 1C-185 Frobisher Dr., Waterloo, ON, N2V 2E6.
