Leishman, David.

In loving memory of David Leishman, who passed peacefully at St. Joseph Health Centre in Guelph, Ontario on December 18, 2023. He was a remarkable man whose journey through life spanned 103 years. Born in Hawick, Scotland, to Robert and Margaret. David served as a member of the Royal Air Force (RAF) during World War II, where he devoted five years to service, including an extended and distinguished period in India.

In 1946, his friend and a fellow RAF member, introduced Dave to his sister, Roma. He immediately knew she was the one. The 75 years they shared was a testament to their love and commitment.

A graduate of the University of Nottingham and later, McMaster University, David had a lifelong thirst for knowledge. In 1953, he embarked on a new chapter, immigrating to Canada, where he left his mark as a founding member of the Provincial Institute of Technology, known today as Mohawk College. Beyond his career, David pursued a range of interests, from reading and fine woodworking, to enthusiastically supporting the Blue Jays, and playing golf at the Guelph Country Club.

David is survived by his wife, Roma, daughter, Karen (Scott) and son, Robert (Debra). He was "Gramps" to five grandchildren, Amanda (Geoff), Emily (Chris), David, Adrienne (Steve), and Jessica (Steve), and a cherished grandfather to eleven great-grandchildren. David's love will forever remain in their hearts.

In honoring David's extraordinary life, as per his wishes, a private family gathering will commemorate his legacy, celebrating the profound impact he had on their lives. Though he has bid us farewell, his spirit remains in our memories, with the stories, and lessons he leaves behind. David Leishman, a gentleman of love, courage, and strength, will forever live on in the hearts of those who were touched by his incredible journey.

The family wishes to thank the health care professionals who were coordinated by Closing the Gap, and both Guelph General and St Joseph's Health Centre staffs who provided such kind and respectful care for David in his final days.

Flowers are graciously declined.

Arrangements under the direction of Brombal Funeral Home & Cremation Care, One Delhi Street, Guelph.
