Margaret passed away peacefully on April 27, 2022, in her 104th year. Born on Elizabeth Street on Oct. 24, 1918, the youngest of seven children to Teresa Bassett (d.1972), Margaret grew up in Guelph, attending various public schools until age 14. She married Lawrence De La Franier (1918 - 1963) in 1947 and had their son, Alan (Claudia).

In 1969, Margaret married Patrick Lindsay (1918 - 2000) and welcomed Pat's children Rory (Barb), Maeve (Rob), Deirdre (Ron) and Cathy (Paul) into her life. Pat and Margaret travelled often to Pat's home country of Ireland. She is the proud grandma to Rhiannon (Peter), Denise (Matt), Devin, Jessica (Scott), Brendan (Andrea), Tim (Monica), Emily (Geoffrey), Kate (Joel), Anna (Justin), Rory (Julie), Luke (Sarah), Megan (Gord) and Lindsay. Margaret is great grandma to Avalon, Morgan, Darcy, Kier, Aurora, Sawyer, Autumn, Eira, Lev, Mateo, Avery, Asher, Theo, Wylder, Monk and Gus.

Fiercely independent until the very end, Margaret suffered a devastating stroke on the evening of April 21, 2022. The family was expertly guided by Bayshore Nurses and Margaret spent her last days under the compassionate and loving care of the staff at Hospice Wellington.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held on Thursday May 5 from 3-5 pm at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin Street N., Guelph. We kindly request that you wear a mask.
