Agnes Logie, ‘Aunt Agnes’ to many, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 29th, 2019 at Hospice Wellington in Guelph at the age of 93, knowing she was deeply loved. Agnes was born in Inchinnan, Scotland on November 5, 1925 and married John Logie in 1946. They immigrated together to Canada in February 1953 and lived in Montreal until they moved to Guelph in 1980. Agnes worked with Johnson & Johnson/McNeil for 36 years and was a volunteer at Guelph General Hospital for 27. Agnes was gracious, kind, a golf, bowling and scrabble enthusiast, and someone who loved to have fun. Mostly she simply enjoyed being with friends and family and was the best of company with everyone. She survived her husband, John, as well as her brothers, Sam Dorricott (Mary) and Tom Dorricott (Helen). Agnes is survived by her nieces and nephews, Phylis Ross (Morris), Doreen Harvey (Rob), Gary Morin (Linda), Bill Wood (Vicki), Gina Case, Frances Stirling, Iris Mitchell and many great nieces and nephews who all love her dearly. She also leaves many friends and former colleagues who will sadly miss her. The family would like to thank the many people who provided such wonderful care to Aunt Agnes during the last few years of her life – particularly Doctors Schuurman, Friedman and Shafir, as well as Nan Miller, Laura Thomas, the staff at Hospice Wellington for their compassionate and professional care during the final days of Agnes’ life and the many other nurses and caregivers she came to know. You made a difference and we are so very thankful.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 11:00 am at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, ON, with Dr. Shirley Gale officiating. This will be followed immediately by a reception and visitation. In lieu of flowers, Agnes suggested that donations be made to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital (www.gghfoundation.ca) or Hospice Wellington (www.hospicewellington.org.)
A tree will be planted in memory of Agnes Logie in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 2:30 pm.
