(November 25, 1936 – December 5, 2023)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Maureen Deirdre Logue (nee Taggart) at the age of 87 years. She was devoted to family, had a passion for learning and was always ready with a joke or sage piece of advice. She was beautiful, charismatic and a playful prankster who loved a hot cup of tea and adored potatoes more than any other food.

The centre of her world includes her predeceased husband David Morrison Logue (1932-2010), her daughters Deirdre (1964), Glynis (1967), and Erin (1972), their partners Allyson, Leo and Mark, respectively, and her grandchildren Jack Nutt, Tansy Nutt, and Quinn Logue Barei.

Maureen embraced the spirit of Northern Ireland which undoubtedly shaped her character. She ventured across the Atlantic to Toronto in her early 20s, where she met and married David and started raising their three girls. Being the only family with a pool, the Logue home became a magnet of activity around the suburban neighbourhood. Maureen and Dave then moved to Edmonton and quickly became active members at the Derrick Golf and Winter Club. Maureen’s passion for nature began to flourish here, balanced between a career in horticulture and being a watercolour painter in retirement. Fond memories include trips to the Bluffs, Sauble Beach and Pender Island, swimming at the Derrick, and exploring Edmonton’s River Valley.

Later in life, Maureen moved to Guelph only to pick up the pace with hiking, cottaging and umpteen family gatherings. Her last home was a warm haven surrounded by orchids, glass animals, self-improvement books and her black cat Hal.  She thrived independently with the support of Glynis’ family nearby. Maureen spent her most recent summers studying the sandy shores of Georgian Bay, one of her favourite places.

A celebration of Maureen's life will be held in 2024. The family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice Wellington whose staff provided so much comfort in her last days. Maureen will be forever remembered for her enduring love.

Arrangements entrusted to the Memory Gardens Funeral Home 2723 Victoria St. N. Breslau (519) 904 0400.
