It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear Mom, Wife, Grandma, Sister, Aunt and Friend. Ida was the much loved wife of Henry Lunshof, for almost 57 years; awesome mom/mom-in-law of Scott Lunshof (Maureen), Karl Lunshof (Erin), Lisa Roelfsema (Jeff), Mark Lunshof (Julie), Tanya Lunshof and Laura Silic (Nando); beloved grandma of Derek (Stephanie), Peter, Michele (Storm) and Kaitlyn, Lauren, Lindsay and Kyle, Kayla and Seth, Madison, Ariel and Jacob, AJ and Avery; and great-grandma of Aiden and Alex, Colton and Tyler, Zander and Claire.

She will be deeply missed by her surviving siblings, Tena Geerts, Jake DeJong (Hazel), Helen Cappon (John), Wynne VandeZande, Betty Mostert (Peter), Mary Wassenaar (Sy), Nancy DeBoer (Gerrit) and Lilian Buesink, and will be reunited with those that have gone before her; cherished parents Benne and Ida DeJong; brother Al DeJong (Elaine); sisters Marge DeVries, Jess Posthumus (Tom) and Willa Westendorp; brothers-in-law John Geerts, Peter DeVries, Gerald Vandezande, Henry Westendorp and John Buesink.

Ida loved her family and especially her weekends with her sisters. Known as trash talking Ida on the volleyball court, she was always our biggest cheerleader, taking joy in the details of our lives, celebrating our achievements, encouraging and believing in us and always putting our needs ahead of her own. She enjoyed cooking for her family and there was always room at her dinner table for one more.

She had an incredible work ethic and mentored the many that worked for and with her. Although she took on several career changes throughout her life, her most loved jobs were being “work-mom” in her role as store manager at Idomo furniture and in her retirement years as hall monitor at St.James Catholic School in Guelph.

We will miss most of all - her smile, quick wit, pearls of wisdom and the thoughtful, selfless way she took care of us all.

Thanks to the palliative care support from Waterloo Wellington LHIN and Closing the Gap.

Due to COVID restrictions a private ceremony will be held at a later date.
