MacInnes George

(1944 - 2017)

After a lengthy battle with cancer, George passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, March 19, 2017, in his 73rd year. Beloved husband of Edith (Campbell) for 44 years. George was the youngest child of the late George W. MacInnes and Jane Mullany. Survived by his siblings Helen Kidd, John MacInnes (Carol), Jean Anderson and Sylvia Kelly. Predeceased by his eldest brother Arthur (2010); brothers-in-law Samuel Kidd (1984), Edward Kelly (2001) and Tommy Anderson; nephew Jason Kelly (2009); great-nephew Allan MacInnes (2001); and his faithful Border Collie Brewster (2014). George was also predeceased by his long-time special pal Richard Devine, Scotland (2014) who he dearly missed. Lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews in Canada, Scotland, England and Dubai. He will be sorely missed by “our almost adopted daughter” Bettina Kalisch and his furry four legged wee pal Annie.

George was proud to work for the County of Wellington in the position of Property Manager. He was a modest man with many talents and hobbies which included gardening, walking his dogs, welding and renovating. Neighbours, friends and family could always rely on George for his advice, tools and a helping hand.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Janet Nairn, Dr. Timothy Wesley-James, Dr. Elaine Bouttell, Dr. Deborah Robinson, the Oncology nurses at Guelph General Hospital, CCAC and Bayshore Home Health for their wonderful care and support. George also wanted to acknowledge and thank his close friends Eric Batchelor, Dave Kennedy, Grant MacDonald and Eric Rodgers for their friendship, kindness, regular phone calls and visits. Heartfelt thanks is also extended to the many friends and neighbours who touched George's life with kindnesses over the years and support during his illness.

In respecting George’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. If desired, a donation in memory of George may be made to a charity of your choice.
