At Hospice Wellington, on Good Friday evening, the Lord called Irene.

Irene, dearly loved wife for almost 64 years of the late Jim Mahoney (July 12, 2019) Loved Mom of Sue (Paul) Breadner of Guelph, Stephen of Toronto, and Kevin (Michelle) of Toronto. Nana to Michael and his wife Angelina Breadner of Guelph, and Megan and Mikayla Mahoney of Toronto. Dearly loved great grandmother (Nana) of Matthew Breadner of Guelph who she was so proud to say was born on her birthday. She told everyone he was the best birthday gift ever!

Irene was predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Rose Farrell, and her bother Bill. She graduated from St. Joseph Hospital Nursing School, Toronto in May 1954 and had a wonderful career as a Nurse. She worked in a hospital setting for many years and also as assistant to a doctor specializing in severe allergies and environmental medicine. Irene was a proud and active member for over 65 years of the CWL in Toronto, Mississauga, and later in Guelph.

She and Jim enjoyed travelling, and had some wonderful trips to Ireland, California, Florida, the Maritimes and cruises to the Caribbean and Canada and New England. Recently her health declined and she spent much of the last 2 months in hospital, and then Hospice. Many, many thanks to the most kind and caring staff and volunteers at Hospice Wellington for your wonderful care of Mom.

Irene has been living at the Royal on Gordon since shortly after Jim passed away, and enjoyed the friends she made there. A special thanks to the folks at The Royal for everything you
did to make her feel welcome, safe, and comfortable, especially during the last 2 years of Covid.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday April 24, 2022 from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, Ontario. Funeral Mass Monday April 25, 2022 at 10:30 am at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church
