Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington on Monday, April 2, 2018. She lived a full life in her 89 years.  Born April 28, 1928 in Loverna, Saskatchewan she moved with her family to Hillsburgh, Ontario during the depression and then the family settled in Guelph.  Jean worked her entire career at the A & P; she enjoyed traveling, collecting Royal Doulton figurines, antique dolls, the theatre and gatherings with family.  She was the beloved wife of 34 years to the late Mark Major (2015). Jean will be sadly missed by her big sister Wilma Cowan.  Predeceased by her siblings Edwin, Faye, Mildred and Wilfred; and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Jean will be remembered by her step-children Terry (Irene), Paul (Natasha), Bob (Heather), Anne and Dennis. She will be greatly missed by her 17 grandchildren – Jeffrey, Christine, Michael, Jamie, Rebekah, Kate, Sarah, Sean, Kevin, Duncan, Jordan, Darnell, Lesley, Matthew, Alexander, Amanda and Juliana. Jean will be fondly remembered by the rest of her family and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Saturday, April 7, 2018 from 2 - 4 p.m. Memorial contributions to the Hospice Wellington would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of M. Jean Major in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest, University of Guelph Arboretum. Dedication service, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2:30 pm.
