Ywvon passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on July 31st, 2022 at the age of 88. Married to Eric for over sixty-nine years. Mum of Colleen (Paul), Garry (Melissa) and Yvonne (Dave). Nanny to Sarah (Dale), Steven, Sophia, Ally, Jessica (Cam), Megan (Dustin), Eric (Nikole), Erica (Steve) and Sydney (Brandon). Great-Nanny to ten great grandchildren with one more on the way.

Ywvon is survived by her sister Audrey and sister-in-law Jean in England, as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada and the U.K. Predeceased by sister Olive, and brothers Jim and Reg.

Raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where at age nineteen she met Eric who was in the Royal Navy, and they were married in 1953.They lived in Malta for a time, then raised a family in Bury, Lancashire, England, until 1974 when the family of five emigrated to Guelph.

Mum lived a long and full life, always with Eric by her side. They travelled back to the U.K. several times and were fortunate enough to winter in Florida for over thirty years, building friendships with people from all over Canada and the U.S.

An avid knitter, crocheter, embroiderer and seamstress, Mum made sure all her grandkids had blankets and sweaters made specially for them with love and she shared many handmade gifts with her friends and charitable organizations. Blessed with a wicked sense of humour, she kept Dad on his toes and loved nothing more than a good laugh.

Although it was time to go, we will miss her tremendously, but we are comforted knowing that Ywvon is in a better place.

Special thanks to Preethy Antony for her extremely kind and professional care, and thanks to the nurses and doctors on 4 West at GGH, who made her last days comfortable.

As per Ywvon’s wishes, a private family service has been planned with arrangements entrusted to Kitching Steepe & Ludwig Funeral Home in Waterdown, ON.

Mum was a kind-hearted soul with a soft spot for animals, particularly her many pet dogs over the years and for those who wish, a small donation in Ywvon’s memory to the Guelph Humane Society or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
