Passed away bravely at the Guelph General Hospital on Thursday July 20, 2023 at the age of 91. Beloved wife of the late Jean-Jacques Mambourg. Strong, spunky, cherished, fun mother of Daniel Mambourg, Catherine Mambourg (Richard Paine), Mary Mambourg (the late Phil Gooderham) and Sarah Mambourg (Paul Ashfield). Sister of Joe Werner (the late Margaret Werner) and Werner family. Predeceased by her parents Joseph Werner and Anna Werner (John Niklas).

Helen was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and grew up in Toronto. Helen was an excellent student. She went to McGill University to study English. At McGill Helen was a fencing champion. On graduation, she was honored to receive two full scholarships with fellowships, one to Stanford University and one to Brown College.

Helen chose to go to teachers college in Toronto where she met her husband, Jean-Jacques. They went on to raise a family of four beautiful children.

When the children were all raised, Helen got a job working for Manulife Insurance as a claims adjuster. She loved it and made some wonderful friends there.

In 2018 Helen moved to Guelph. She grew to love her new home, friends and community. Helen’s smile brightened the world around her. Helen loved people, books, dogs, playing snooker, wine, words, the use of language, bible study, God, crossword puzzles and a good joke. She will be missed.

Helen’s family would like to send a big thank you to all the staff at the Guelph General Hospital for the excellent care and support Helen received. Thank you!

A celebration of life will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 161 Norfolk Street, Guelph on Saturday July 29 at 11:00am with a reception to follow.
