We are heartbroken to share the passing of Michael (Mike) Mantel at Hospice Wellington on Friday, November 12, 2021.
Dearly loved husband and best friend of Karen, devoted Dad to Chris and Matt, loved brother of Cor (Ruth), Pat (John), Pam (David) and Melinda, brother-in-law to Doug (Danielle). Mike was also a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews.
Mike lived by the motto, ‘to be in your children’s memories tomorrow…you have to be in their lives today.’ Lovingly referred to by his family as the ‘World’s Okayest Dad,’ with the sweatshirt to prove it, Mike coached, umpired, convened, and cheered from the sidelines at every hockey and baseball game he possibly could attend with Chris and Matt. We were blessed with his always present and excellent sense of humour.
Sincere thanks to Guelph General Hospital, in particular the staff on 5th West for helping us to have extra time with Mike, and to Hospice Wellington for their kind, compassionate care for Mike and for our family.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 12 – 2 pm at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home, 206 Norfolk St. Guelph.
