Passed away peacefully on April 22, 2018 at Hospice Wellington after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved partner of Shawn Cox. Loving mother of Charles (Erin), Phillip (Jenna) and Brady. Proud Oma, Momma of Cayden, Jaiden, Maximus, Lincoln and Ethan. She will be missed by sisters Charlene (Wayne), Sandy (Dave), brothers Daryl, Gary (Debbie) and Shawn’s family Cheryl (Steve), Donna and Kevin (Kornelia). Cathy will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be in the thoughts of her children’s father Rick Markell and the Markell family. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Myrtle Minnie and her sister Donna (Rick).
As sisters, Cathy, Charlene and Sandy, had a very special bond. Cathy was a strong, inspiring, amazing woman that touched many people’s lives through her kindness, witnessing compassion and ministering. She had a love and passion for art which you see in her paintings and other creations. Feel free to wear the colour purple in Cathy’s memory.
Family and friends may visit on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 9:00pm at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home, 280 St. David St. South, Fergus. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Belsyde Cemetery, Fergus. Donations may be made in Cathy’s memory to Hospice Wellington or the Canadian Cancer Society.
