Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Hospice Wellington on Friday, April 15, 2022 at the age of 80.
Lynda taught nursing at Conestoga College for many years. She maintained contact with her Nursing Alumnae group of 1962. She enjoyed her time with her Red Hat group that met monthly. She volunteered at the Guelph River Run for a number of years in many positions from usher to bartender. She volunteered at the Arboretum in a number of functions and most enjoyed sorting precious seeds. She went on a lot of birding trips with her friends Mary Ramotar or John Near. She nourished a large number of wonderful friendships.
After contracting Acute Myeloid Leukemia in 2016, Lynda had chemotherapy for over 5 years, mostly at Guelph General Hospital. When that stopped working, she switched to Palliative Care co-ordinated by Dr. Peter Spadafora and nurse Katrina.
Lynda was the beloved wife of Keith Marsland of Guelph. Loved mother of Shawn and Shannon and their children Sam and Isabel of Toronto and Darren and Kathy of Parry Sound. Dear sister of Barbara Friesen (Phil) of Gravenhurst. Sadly missed by her niece Wanda Fitzell and nephews David and Eric. Predeceased by her parents Frank and Jean Whitmee of Georgetown.
Following Lynda’s wishes, we had a celebration of life with her while alive. Those contributing were Susan Colleran, Lynn Gore, Diane Collison, Maryetta McDowell, Karen Wilson, Bernice Marsland, Ellie Phelps, Kay Thurtell, Helen Sullivan, Shawn, Darren and Keith. Cremation has taken place.
