On April 8, 2024, the world lost a beautiful soul in Donella Martini (nee, Grassi).
She was a remarkable woman, born on February 28, 1943, in Florence, Italy. In 1962, she followed her heart and moved to Canada, packing her wedding dress in her suitcase. She left her mother behind and embarked on a new chapter of her life. "Domestic engineer" is what she would tell people she did. She took pride in her home and family. Her dedication to her family helps make them the best version of themselves. She never asked for much but always gave so much. Donella was an artist with an eye for beauty. She loved life. Donella's beauty, kindness, and generosity touched many lives.
Donella's life was not without sorrow. She lost her son, Anthony, in 2008, which was a tremendous loss for her and her family. Despite this tragedy, She remained strong. Donella is survived by her husband, Peter; her daughter, Lisa; her son-in-law, Andy; her furry daughter, Mia; her grand pups, Nix and Nike; her sisters, Olga and Rosella; and her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, as well as many friends who loved her.
She will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives in us forever.
