Giuseppe Martini born March 22, 1937

In the early hours of April 15th we lost a great Dad and even better grandfather who absolutely loved his 7 grandchildren!

Giuseppe Martini or “Beppo” as he went by his nickname, came to Canada in 1960 looking for a better life, following his brothers Natalino, Graciano and sister Maria.

He would settle down in Guelph, joining his brothers. He was a painter by trade and while painting the old steel bridge on Hwy 6 in Mount Forest, he had the misfortune of falling 50-60 ft. breaking…well almost everything. Luckily for him his sister Maria would visit him at St. Josephs Hospital and helped in penning some letters back to his future wife Gina. She came to Canada soon after and rest his history…

Gina and Beppo would marry and move from Elizabeth St. to their forever home, where they remain until today, raising Lorena, Dennis and Doris.

Loving father to Lorena (Dave Barker), Dennis (Sarah Parkin) and Doris (Mark Campagnolo).  Adoring Grandfather to Christopher and Hailey Barker, Joshua and Scott Martini, Kaitlyn, Eric and Alex Campagnolo.  Survived by brother Graciano (Terry).  Predeceased by his siblings Luigi, Natalino and Maria.

Beppo worked as a painter for Rocco Bornino until it was time to hang up the brushes and work out his remaining 20 or so years at Barzotti Woodworking, where he made many friends both young and old.

Our Dad was a hard-working man who did everything for his family, he enjoyed working in his garden, keeping chickens, breeding canaries, taking his kids fishing and going out to the “Farma” (his Brother Nat’s) on many Sundays to be with the extended family.

Hopefully he is able to reconnect with the many that we have lost over the years, playing Bocci with our Zio Ninni (Nat), his buddies Tony Rosso, Georgio Baggio and Sandro Cusinato…to name a few.

Our dad was a simple man who didn’t want much fuss over his passing, so to honour his wishes we will be having a small family ceremony in the days to come.
We would like to thank everyone who have reached out offering condolences throughout the recent days from both new and far.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Gilbert Macintyre & Son Funeral Home – Hart Chapel, Private cremation services have taken place.
Contributions in Giuseppe's memory made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
