Of Guelph, passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington with his loving wife by his side on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of 62 years to Marianne Matthews (nee McGillivray). Loved father of Diane (Randy) Berry and Bruce (Leslie) Matthews. Proud grandpa of Brianne Berry (Brendon) and Leanne and Derrick Matthews. Dear brother of Marguerite (the late Allan) Jackson and brother-in-law of Evelyn (Ross) Witmer. Predeceased by siblings Gladys Nuttley and Marion (Elmer) Allan and siblings-in-law Florence (Bob) Dolson, Joyce (Tony) Lekx and Catherine McGillivray. Earl will be sadly missed by many, including his weekly euchre partners.
Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre. Earl’s family would like to thank their family, friends and co-workers for their continued support. Special thanks to Dr. Hendrie, Dr. Burke, Hospice Wellington and all of the staff and volunteers for their compassionate care.
