Wendy McCarvell

October 7, 1952 - November 3, 2021

Wendy Lee McCarvell passed away peacefully with her husband by her side in her 70th year, at the Edmonton General Hospital, after a courageous thirteen-month battle with cancer.

Born in North Bay ON, Wendy lived in Deep River, Guelph, Richmond Hill and Maple ON before moving to Edmonton, AB. She was a creative artist, an accomplished doll artisan and miniaturist, a talented seamstress, and she took great pleasure in her volunteer work at the North Edmonton Seniors Association.

Wendy was pre-deceased by her parents, R. Merton Alcorn and I. Geraldine M. Alcorn (nee Anderson); and her sister, Beverly Hatefi (nee Alcorn). She is sadly missed and forever loved by her husband of 38 years, Gordon McCarvell; special niece, Laleh Hatefi; great-nephew, Jordan Emmerson of Guelph, ON; stepchildren, Heather Duke (John) and Andrew McCarvell of Waterloo, ON, and her cherished puppies, Blossom and Rascal. Wendy also leaves behind many friends and relatives in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.

The family offers special thanks to family physician Dr. Bradley Rowe, Dr. Hatim Karachiwala and the team at the Cross Cancer Institute, the Alberta Health Services Home Care Team, and to the Hospice Care Team at the Edmonton General Hospital. Your dedication and compassion brought Wendy peace and comfort during a truly difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cross Cancer Institute or the Cancer Charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
