It is with great sadness that we share the news of the untimely passing of Terry McGuire on April 7, 2020 in his 76th year. Terry was born in Noranda Quebec and was raised there and in Edmonton and Yellowknife with his siblings Bill and Bob. He served his country faithfully in the Armed Forces, stationed in Yemen, and later at CFB Gagetown where he met his loving wife, the late Mary Gunther. They lived in many parts of Canada, including Greenwood, Edmonton, Downsview, Scarborough, and Hillsburgh, finally settling in Guelph, where he worked as a lieutenant at the Guelph Correctional Centre. He and Mary spent 46 wonderful years of marriage together, happily raising four children who loved him dearly: Laura, Sherry (Brian), Ken (Linda), and Troy (Karla). His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always in his thoughts: Rhiannon (Omar), Rebecca, Makayla and Meghan who will miss her “Apu” forever, and Kyle and Sophia. His family, his former colleagues, and his many friends will remember him for his kindness, good humor and integrity. Terry’s request to be cremated has been fulfilled. Since there can be no formal gathering at this time, a donation to the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) in London, Ontario, would be appreciated by Terry’s family. The family is discussing plans for a future celebration of Terry’s life at an appropriate time. Arrangements entrusted to GILCHRIST CHAPEL – McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph, (519-824-0031).
