McKEOWN, Thomas James Francis B.A. M.D.

Passed away at the Guelph General Hospital on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Dr. Thomas McKeown in his 87th year was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Helen (Brunner) McKeown (2003). He was the loving father of Alison McKeown (Rob Hildred), Maura (David Gillis), Brendan McKeown, and Michael McKeown. Thomas was the proud grandfather of Emily, Ethan, Joshua, Elias, and Callum. He was the dear brother of Vincent McKeown, Leona Nessmiller, Beth Van Jarsveldt, Norine Ferrari, Edward McKeown, and the late Rosalie Crisp, Charles McKeown, Ronan McKeown, and Donald McKeown. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Thomas graduated from the faculty of medicine at the University of Toronto in 1961. In partnership with Dr. Jim Henderson, he formed Applewood Medical Associates in Mississauga where he practiced for over 30 years. He was one of the founding doctors of the Trillium Health Centre. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Thomas will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at the Basilica of Our Lady, 28 Norfolk St. Guelph, on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment in Marymount Cemetery, Guelph.
