McKinnon, Deborah Jane

Passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Hospice Wellington, Guelph at the age of 67 years. Beloved daughter of the late Joan McKinnon (2008) and the late James McKinnon (1973). She is survived by her sister Josephine A. O’Connor of Cambridge and by her brother James H. McKinnon of Guelph. Predeceased by her brother Donald C. McKinnon (2004).

Debbie attended George Brown College in Toronto to become a chef. Her cooking career started at the Aberfoyle Mill Restaurant, and she spent 18 ½ years cooking at Oxford Lodge Retirement Home and seasonal cooking at Strathcona Park Lodge on Vancouver Island.

Debbie enjoyed camping, bus trips and holidaying in Florida. Her hobbies were photography, square dancing, knitting and colouring in adult colouring books.

Thank you to the Bayshore Nurses, especially to nurse Tara, for their wonderful care, and to her many good friends for all of their help and support. Debbie made many good friendships with people that she had met on bus trips, and her knitting and quilting groups.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive their friends for a Celebration of Deborah’s life at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 1 – 4 p.m. .

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Hospice Wellington or to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital would be appreciated by the family. Donation cards are available at the funeral home 519-822-4731 or online at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com
