McVEIGH, Rev. James 'Jim'

Posted

McVeigh James MM
An Irishman through and through, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend, pastor, and humanitarian, died with his loving wife by his side at his home in Wasaga Beach, Ontario on April 5th, 2021.  Although it is in sadness that we announce Jim’s passing, we rejoice that he is with his Lord and Saviour and that his suffering has ended!  We know we will be reunited with him in heaven.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly 25 years, his two beautiful daughters Barbara Ruth (Ted), Karen, his stepson Christopher, and foster children Kasia, Jimmy and Jonathan.  Jim is predeceased by his parents Hannah (nee Bell) and Robert (Bobby), and 1st wife Barbara, from Belfast Ireland.

Jim served his Lord throughout his life in Choirs and as a trained tenor soloist and in pulpits as a lay preacher.  Eventually he realized his dream and he was ordained in 1989 in the Presbyterian Church in Canada and spent the later years of his life serving congregations in the Lindsay-Peterborough Presbytery, the Seaway-Glengarry Presbytery in Ontario, the Pictou County Presbytery in Nova Scotia, and finally the Barrie Presbytery back in Ontario.   A man with a huge generous heart who will be sorely missed.

A private service will be held at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph on Thursday, April 8 at 2 pm.  To attend remotely, a Zoom link is embedded in Jim’s notice on the funeral home website. 519-822-0051.

In lieu of flowers we would ask for donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, or the Presbyterian Church in Canada’s Presbyterians Sharing campaign or charity of choice.
