July 21, 1927 – April 13, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.  Peacefully at Guelph General Hospital on Saturday, April 13, 2024 in his 97th year.

Jose leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Maria.  Devoted father to Joey and father in law to Valdemar.  Caring grandfather to Jessica Mendonca, Nicole Moniz and Amanda Moniz great-grandfather to Jason Mendonca-Jones. Jose will be forever remembered by many extended family and friends. Predeceased by his daughter Suzete Moniz.

Jose was a beacon of hard work, tirelessly dedicating himself to his endeavours with passion and perseverance. His commitment to his craft was unmatched, and his skilful hands brought forth creations that will be cherished for years to come.  One of his greatest joys in life was his family. He spoke fondly and often of his grandkids and great-grandson, finding immense pride and happiness in their achievements and milestones. His love for them knew no bounds, and his presence in their lives brought warmth and joy beyond measure.

Jose will be remembered not only for his remarkable work ethic and craftsmanship but also for his unwavering love and devotion to his family. His absence leaves a palpable void, but his legacy of hard work, love, and familial bonds will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home – Hart Chapel (1099 Gordon St.) on Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.  Funeral Mass to be held at Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate Church (27 Norfolk St.) on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 11:00 am, entombment to follow at Marymount Cemetery (5400 Hwy. 6 North).

Donations directed to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

In honoring Jose's memory, let us carry forward the values he held dear and cherish the moments shared with him. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all.
