Mr. Pierre Meyers passed away peacefully at the Village of Riverside
Glen on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of the
late Simonne (nee Vermeulen) (1999).

Loving father to Patrick Joseph Meyers (Anna DeMarchi-Meyers). Cherished
grandfather to Justin Eric Meyers. Predeceased by his beloved wife
Simonne Meyers (1999)

Pierre & Simonne immigrated to Canada on December 28th, 1959 to take up
residence status in Ottawa through a work visa as hair stylists that was
supported by a Belgian ex-patriot who sponsored them along with their 5
year-old son, at the time, Patrick. In the ensuing years, Pierre &
Simonne became a force to be reckoned with in the Ottawa area, salon &
hairstyling industry, quickly opening up their own beauty salon which
expanded to 3 salons over a space of only a few years. Pierre & Simonne
lived mostly in the Ottawa suburb of Nepean for almost 20 years, moving
eventually to a 100 acre farm in the rural community of Dunrobin,
Ontario, about 20 kilometers from Ottawa.

Pierre took up an interest in beef farming for the next 20 years of his
life, while Simonne worked for Canada Post during that time. Eventually
in retirement, Pierre & Simonne took up residence in the area of
Rockwood, Ontario to be closer to their son Patrick and his family,
during the spring and summer months while spending the winter months in
Spring Hill, Florida. After Simonne passed in 1999, Pierre continued to
live in the Rockwood area until recently when he lived at the long term
care facility of Riverside Glen in Guelph, Ontario, until his passing at
approximately 9:00 AM on June 1, 2021 at the age of 92

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Pierre’s life will take
place at a later date. Interment at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oustic. If so
desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Alzheimer’s Society or the
Canadian Cancer Society (in an effort to find cures or best palliative
treatments or practices for these two horrific diseases) would be
appreciated by the family.
