Joe, “Pojee” to his grandchildren, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 30, 2021, just six days after his 86th birthday. Beloved husband of the late Leola Molto (nee Keating) for almost 66 years. Loving father of Mary (Stephen) of Brantford, Joe of Guelph, Paul (Anita) of British Columbia, Gerry (Sonya) of Nova Scotia, Brian (Deb) of Clifford, and Philip (Lois) of Kitchener. Joe will also be dearly missed by son-in-law Peter Merrick of Alma. Cherished grandfather of 19 and great-grandfather of 22. Predeceased by daughters Elaine and Anne (Peter). Survived by his brother Victor (Thelma) and his sister Cecilia (George).

Joe was an avid fisherman – taught by his father on the Severn River, and in turn, teacher of many of his grandchildren. He was proud of his Spanish heritage and enjoyed cooking, especially “pan rice” (paella). He was an avid Euchre player who had little patience with the card skills of one son-in-law.

A funeral mass will take place at the Basilica of Our Lady, 28 Norfolk Street, Guelph on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11 a.m. To attend the funeral mass, please RSVP on the funeral home website, under Joe’s obituary. A private burial at Marymount Cemetery, Guelph will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
