MOORE, Kenneth (Ken) Alfred

Posted

Moore Ken MM

Ken passed away at home on March 26, 2022, at the age of 91. He was predeceased by his loving wife June (2009) who he shared 56 years of marriage with. He will be missed by their three children Brad (Andrea), Heather, and Warren, also his nephew Bob Fidler from Hamilton.

He was born of William and Florence Moore on August 5, 1930, in a little town called Holstein, Ontario. He had two wonderful sisters Margorie and Ruby (both deceased).

He worked for Esso from 1960 to 1986 in home heating and therefore got to know many people in the community. June worked with him keeping the books up to date and secretarial work.

Ken and June built their beautiful home in Guelph from the ground up (from blueprints they saw in the local paper) and then had and raised their family. He also built a cottage in Kincardine which they enjoyed for many years before selling and building another cottage in Dorset. He loved to be in nature and in his younger years enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, water skiing, spending time with family and friends while living the cottage life.

He was constantly building, fixing, or tinkering with something. He seemed to have a wealth of knowledge and was always quick to lend a hand or advice on a project whenever needed.

During Ken’s life he donated blood 250 times and because of this, he was awarded the Lifetime 250 from the Red Cross. He was proud of this achievement as he understood the importance it had on saving lives.

He also enjoyed travelling with his family to new destinations but always had one rule; to go to the end of the road. It was a quirk the family learned was part of the experience.

A special thank you to Dr. Ellen Lee and Dr. Will Ruddock for their great care.

A private family graveside service was held. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

Memorial contributions to one’s charity of choice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the memories, we’ll miss you dad.

A tree will be planted in memory of Kenneth A. Moore in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
