It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Flori (Floyd) J. Moortgat on December 28,2022 at Riverside Glen in Guelph.
Beloved husband to Marilyn (Bellis) for 58 years, he will be deeply missed as the proud father to Erik, Paula (late Frank) and grandson Zack. He will also be fondly remembered by his nephew Joris and his nieces Luce, Tanya and Dominique.
Floyd is predeceased by his parents Nestor and Justine (Poppe), brother Guido and sister Emmy (Nagels).
Born in Borgerhout, Belgium, Floyd emigrated to Alberta in his early twenties before moving to Ontario where he met his love Marilyn, began his career with Gilbeys Inc. and started his family.
He had many passions throughout his life: family, friends, music, nature, animals, reading and travel are just a few. Whatever Floyd embarked upon, he did it wholeheartedly and with a smile, a joke or a story. He will be deeply missed by all.
Per his request, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will soon be scheduled in February. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.
