MORSMAN, Mary Frances

Posted

Morsman Mary MM

Passed away peacefully in her 74th year, on September 30th, 2022, with her sister by her side at St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Guelph.

Dearly loved sister of Anne Lake (Robert) and much loved aunt of Patricia Bolander (Leroy), Steven Lake (Melinda), Teresa McLaren (D’Arcy) and David Lake (Joanne).  Loving and devoted great aunt of Max & Amy, Callum, Parker & Felicity, Evelyn, Violet & Georgia, and Hayley & Mackenzie.

Mary Frances lived most of her life in Toronto where she taught primary grades with the Metropolitan Separate School Board for over 30 years.  Following her retirement, she moved to Guelph to be closer to family, living at the Village by the Arboretum for several years.  Her talent for sewing, needlepoint and other handicrafts was evident not only in her own home but in the gifts she created for family and friends.  Retirement also brought new interests, her favourite being learning to play bridge.  Most of all she loved being a big sister, an aunt and a great-aunt, always ready to help out when needed, always knowing which book or game or toy to choose to challenge young minds.  When a catastrophic illness changed her life, she faced it bravely with few complaints.

The family would like to acknowledge the unwavering support of her lifelong friend, Margaret Ringland, and also the staff at St. Joseph’s for their loving and compassionate care for the past 6 years.

A funeral mass will be held at the Basilica of Our Lady, 28 Norfolk St, Guelph, on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow in the church hall. A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Thornhill. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation Guelph would be gratefully appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Mary Frances Morsman in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
