It is with immense sadness we share our family's loss. Thomas Edgar Nearing passed away at the Guelph General Hospital on March 27, 2021 in his 87th year surrounded by the love of his family.
Dad will be remembered for his strong, living faith and quiet nature. A proud Cape Bretoner born in New Waterford, NS and predeceased by parents Thomas Sr and Helena, siblings Audrey, Edgar, Frances, Martin, Sister Ruth and Theodosia as well as many extended family members.
Lovingly survived by his wife Cecelia and children Susan (Andrew) Moyers, Mary Beth (Mike) Parisotto, Martina (Mark) Breese, Bruce (Dawn) and Alan.
Beloved Grandpa to Darryl (Catherine), Valerie (Damith), Dana (Paul), Eric (Jamie), Ryan, Nicole (Zac), Erin, Tyler (Sydney), Blair (Kira) however, it was his great grandchildren Emmett, Evan, Easton, Charlee, Elora, Abigail and Rhett who brought untold joy to their Papa. Survived by sisters in law Connie Boone and Isobel MacGillivary of Cape Breton and many nieces and nephews.
We are forever grateful to the many people who assisted and supported Dad throughout his health journey. Dr. Dason, nurse Margaret, Fr Boyd for his visits and last rites, ParaMed nursing care, Care Partners PSW's, Ontario Home Oxygen, GGH's Emergency Dept, 4th floor and last but not least the kindness of long time neighbours and family friends. We are so appreciative.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at Holy Rosary Church, Thursday April 1st at 10:30 am with greetings in the church from 10:00 -10:30. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, guests are asked to RSVP for the service via the funeral homes website. Interment to take place at Marymount Cemetery in Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum. Rest peacefully Dad, your work is done.
