It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Nesbitt. Joe passed peacefully at The Village of Riverside Glen in the early morning hours of Wednesday October 12, 2022. Born in Toronto, Ontario on February 23, 1930 to David and Maude Nesbitt.  He met and married his beloved wife, Ann, in 1955.  They lived in London before moving to Guelph and became strong members of their community. Joe was a loving father and grandfather, a passionate coach, a member of the Guelph Male Choir, and volunteered with several organizations. He retired from sales in 1992 and worked then at several odd jobs to keep busy.  We needed a calendar to keep up with Dad.

Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife Ann (2018), married almost 63 years. He will be remembered by his daughters Karen (Dave) and Linda (Eric). He was particularly proud Poppa to grandchildren Clarissa (Nate) and Nicholas (Julie), and Sarah (Jason). Brother to Eileen (2010) (Bruce 2009), Norma (2010) (Haig 2020), Helen, and Hugh (2008) (Marg).  Brother-in-law to Dorothy (2021) (Art 2021), Sheila (2017) (Doug), Jeannie (Larry 2019), and Cairine (1981). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Thanks are given from the family to both Dr. Kennedy and the staff of Riverside Glen for aiding in his peaceful transition from this life. You are exceptional people.

Joe’s laugh and smile and stories will live on with his many friends, in the halls of St. George’s Anglican Church, at the Tim Horton’s at Speedvale and Stevenson, and on baseball diamonds across the city. He is at peace now.

Friends will be received at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St, Guelph on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 1-2 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 pm.   Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Wellington, or the charity of your choice.

A tree will be planted in memory of Joseph (Joe) H. Nesbitt in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
