Passed away peacefully, at the Elliot Community, Guelph on Tuesday April 2, 2024. Johanna Nielsen in her 95th year was the beloved aunt of Karen Aylwin and Ingrid MacRae(deceased) great Aunt of Duncan MacRae, Heather MacRae, Karen MacRae and the recently passed Douglas MacRae. She will be dearly missed by her friends Elene Oakley and Eileen Coo.
Johanna was born into the Icelandic community in Winnipeg in 1929. She was always proud of her Icelandic heritage and treasured her childhood memories of the cottage in Gimli. She graduated with a degree in English from the University of Manitoba. Her career with Molson's took her to Montreal, and eventually to Toronto where she worked as the executive secretary to the President of Molson's until her retirement. Johanna was a passionate and lifelong traveller and always looked forward to her annual reunion with the "Golden Girls".
