NUTTALL, Alfred Hubert (Hugh)

Passed away peacefully, with his daughter by his side, at the Guelph General Hospital on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the age of 97 years. Hugh was the beloved husband of the late Catharine Mary (Kay) (MacDougall) Nuttall (2010). He was the loving father of Robert Nuttall of Rochester, NY, Leslie Grosser (Adam) of Victoria, B.C., and Beverly Nuttall of Guelph. Hugh was the proud grandfather of Kristina Elkin (Arsen), Andrew Grosser, and Bodan Nuttall-Licht. He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Anne Penston of Moncton, New Brunswick. 

Hugh was a resident of Stone Lodge in Guelph for 7 years where he participated in the many social activities. He was particularly known for enjoying dancing at the musical events. He was a member of the Guelph Bridge Club and loved to play cards and cribbage with his family. When Hugh was younger, he enjoyed curling and golf and as a young man, he spent his time on the basketball court. Hugh enjoyed going to Evergreen Lodge on Lake Huron for annual family reunions, where he joined in shuffleboard and mini golf tournaments. He was very proud to be driving his car at 97 and maintaining an accident free record for over 80 years. 

Private cremation has taken place. A celebration of Hugh’s life will be held at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N. Guelph, on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 noon - 1 p.m. A reception will follow in the funeral home Fellowship Lounge.
