May 1, 1941 ~ March 10, 2024

Brian passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington on Sunday, March 10, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife Sheila of 58 years, his daughters Sarah (Dave) and Ruth Ann (Jay), as well as his four grandchildren Holly, Dana, Renee and Anja. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

Brian was born in Exeter, Devon, England, during World War II. In April 1966, he emigrated to Canada with his wife Sheila. They first settled in Toronto where Brian worked as an optician at the downtown Robert Simpson Company. In 1975 he took the opportunity to move his family to Guelph when he started working as an optician at Guelph Optical. In June 1989, Brian opened his own store Ofield Optical at 672 Woolwich St. There he spent 17 years helping many Guelph residents with their optical needs.

Brian enjoyed sailing on Guelph Lake for many years. After retiring he took up golf, playing with the Evergreen seniors golf group. He and Sheila enjoyed many years of traveling, cruising, and spending their winters in Spain.

At Brian’s request there will be no funeral service. At a later date, a celebration of life will be held for family and close friends.

Arrangements entrusted to WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com).
